There
are currently two categories of business migration to New Zealand. The investor
category is aimed at people who have a substantial amount of capital to
invest, while the Long Term Business visa is for those who have business
experience who wish to go to New Zealand to set up a business.
Long Term Business Visa
This is a three year temporary visa which allows the applicant and family to go to New Zealand and buy or set up a business. After they have been running the business successfully for two years, they can apply for permanent residence under the Entrepreneur category.
This is not a points-based category. Applicants have to show that they have sufficient funds to buy or set up the business and to support themselves and their family during the three year period. The have to show that they have several years' experience in running a business, and produce a full, credible, business plan. They also have to show that the proposed business will benefit New Zealand.
Migration Solutions has years of experience in handling applications in this area. As with all categories, we will not take on your application until we have assessed your case and are satisfied that you can meet the criteria. The fee is in three stages:
Stage I - Initial Interview - £500.00
During this interview we will go through the requirements of the visa and assess whether your business background and proposed business meet the criteria, and identify the documents and evidence that will be required. We will then begin to put together the business plan and financials that will be required.
Stage
2 - Application - £1000
When we have everything together, and both sides are happy with the proposed business plan, we will submit the application on your behalf. We will then liaise with NZIS in Wellington to answer any questions they have about the application.
Stage 3 - Visa issued - £500
When the visa is issued we will continue to provide advice and assistance as you complete your plans to move to New Zealand and start or acquire the business.
Investor Visa
New regulations for investor migration were introduced recently. The new category is no longer points based. Investors have to:
- invest $NZ2 million for a period of five years in a government account. After two years some of this can be withdrawn to invest in a New Zealand company
- have at least 5 years' business experience
- be 54 or younger
Usual health and character requirements apply.
Applicants also have to show that the money to be invested has been "legally
gained". Once again payment is in three stages:
Initial interview - £500
At this interview we will outline the process, assess you case to ensure you can meet the requirements, and identify the necessary documentation.
Stage 2 - Application - £500
Once we are sure everything is correct and in place we will complete the applications forms and submit the full migration application to NZIS in Wellington. We will then liaise with them to ensure that the requirements are met.
Stage 3 - Visa issued - £500
Once the visa is issued we will continue to provide advice and support in terms of transferring the capital and making the move to New Zealand.
