The
Family category of migration to New Zealand covers three main groups: partners,
parents, adult children and siblings. The criteria for each are different,
as described below.
Your initial assessment will ensure that you can satisfy the relevant migration criteria. You can therefore feel confident that we would not invite you to attend an appointment, charge you a fee, or proceed with your case unless we were completely satisfied that you are eligible to be granted a visa for New Zealand.
If you appoint us as your agent we will be committed to representing you
throughout the migration process which is why, for your peace of mind, our
fees are charged in two stages.
Stage I - Initial Interview - £250.00
Stage 2- Issue of visa - £200.00
These are the fees that you will pay - there are no extras. They are inclusive
of VAT, however they do not include fees charged by the NZIS,medical examiners
or police authorities. Throughout the application, we are bound by our strict
code of conduct.
Partner migration
Permanent residents or citizens of New Zealand can sponsor their partners to permanent residence. This applies to married couples and both same sex and different sex partnerships. The main requirement is to show that the couple have lived together in a stable and mutually dependent relationship for at least 12 months. The usual health and character requirements apply.
Parent migration
Permanent residents or citizens of New Zealand can sponsor their parents to permanent residence once they have lived in New Zealand as such for at least three years.
There is also a so called "centre of gravity" test. To qualify, your parents must show that they have at least the same number of children in New Zealand as in any other single country. Again, health and character requirements apply. In some cases, grandparents and legal guardians qualify as parents in this category.
Migration of siblings or adult children
Once they have been permanent residents and citizens for three years, New Zealand residents can sponsor adult children or brothers and sisters of for permanent residence. However, the child or sibling must have no other family living in their home country, and must have an offer of employment.
For people who have parents, grandparents, adult children and adult brothers and sisters who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, but do not qualify under any of the above, there is the Family Quota Category of migration. Applicants go into a pool and selections are made by ballot. However, no visas have been made available in this category for at least three years.
